The situation hasn’t changed for Gabbia: Milan cannot let him go until they have signed a new centre-back. Alessio Romagnoli’s departure has affected the Rossoneri’s depth and losing two centre-backs just isn’t possible for the club.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio (via MilanNews), the arrival of a centre-back would allow Gabbia to leave on loan. Empoli have expressed their interest in signing the youngster as a Plan B to their primary target Ethan Ampadu.
It remains to be seen if Gabbia will stay or leave Milan this summer. The Rossoneri are currently working on the signing of Malick Thiaw (read here) and perhaps that will unlock the Primavera product’s loan move. Consistent playing time could do him a lot of good.
