Sky journalist claims Man Utd and Juventus are serious about landing Milan star

Manchester United are interested in signing Gianluigi Donnarumma if he does not renew his contract, according to a Sky journalist.

Donnarumma’s future at Milan appears to have never been quite so uncertain, as he has just less than two months remaining on his contract with nothing in the media suggesting an agreement is imminent or even that talks are progressing the right way.

Kaveh Solkehol of Sky Sports UK spoke to PianetaMilan about the future of the young goalkeeper, revealing that Manchester United in particular are keen on landing the young Italian.

From what filters Juventus have offered Donnarumma a contract of €10m net per season for the next 10 years (5 + 5), while Milan’s offer is stuck at €8m. In the end, what will the goalkeeper do?

“We have been talking about Donnarumma’s future, his contract and his agent’s plans for three years here in England. I know for sure that some English clubs would like to take him, like Manchester United. David De Gea will most likely leave this summer and in the club they are wondering if they can already rely on Dean Henderson despite his inexperience and very young age,” he said.

“Donnarumma has more experience at high levels. There is also talk of Chelsea’s interest, especially if Kepa goes away. Edouard Mendy, however, is doing very well and with such a profile Donnarumma will be number one wherever he goes, not the reserve. I don’t think that Chelsea, after the money spent on Kepa three years ago, would make another important investment for a goalkeeper, especially in terms of wages. We in England, however, would be very happy to see him play in our league.”

In your opinion, would a possible move to Juve be a betrayal?

“Personally, I’m an old-fashioned fan and I don’t like it when a player leaves his club to go to his rival, especially if on a free transfer. Here in England people still have not forgiven Sol Campbell for the transfer from Tottenham, where he was a symbol and captain, to Arsenal for free. I have many friends from Milan and I hope that Gigio will stay with Milan but Juve are serious.”
