Sky journalist offers crucial update on Ibrahimovic’s fitness ahead of derby vs. Inter

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli should have Zlatan Ibrahimovic at his disposal for Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina against Inter, a report claims.

Pioli was forced into a number of changes for Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Hellas Verona at San Siro as Andrea Conti, Simon Kjaer, Ismael Bennacer and Rade Krunic all missed out.

However, arguably the biggest absence was that of Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the strike pairing of Ante Rebic and Rafael Leao looked toothless at times, struggling especially with the high volume of crosses that came in from out wide.

According to Sky Italia’s Emanuele Baiocchini – as cited by MilanNews.it – Ibrahimovic missed three days of training in the week prior to the game through muscle discomfort and flu.

He adds that missing the game against Verona was a precaution as it would be better for him to miss the game against the Gialloblue than the derby – a game more important to the fans and to Ibra.

Tomorrow Milan will return to training and Pioli hopes that Ibra can be involved for the full week to have a total recovery, Baiocchini concludes.
