Ismael Bennacer is out with an injury and won’t be back until the end of the year, while Sandro Tonali is one step away from joining Newcastle. Therefore, Milan need to reinforce the squad with a couple of midfielders this summer.
According to Luca Marchetti of Sky, as cited by MilanNews, Milan have made AZ Alkmaar star Reijnders one of their priorities for the midfield. He has a price tag of €18m and the Dutch side are likely to remain firm on that, having rejected lower offers.
The 24-year-old mainly plays as a central midfielder but can also play in a deeper role. In any case, Stefano Pioli will be able to keep the 4-2-3-1 formation. This past season, Reijnders amassed 4 goals and 7 assists, earning him a spot in Opta’s team of the season for Eredivisie.
