In the end the contract of the technical and sporting directors was allowed to run right until the end before it was made official that terms had been agreed over an extension that will see them remain at the helm. The permanent signings of Alessandro Florenzi and Junior Messias followed not long after, while rumours continue to circulate about other targets

According to what is being reported by Manuele Baiocchini of Sky (via GazzettadelMilan), the fact that the directors have now put pen to paper has certainly added some fuel to the fire of Milan’s mercato business.

“The Maldini and Massara post-renewal momentum is evident in the market. Without them, the operations of Renato Sanches, Charles De Ketelaere and Ziyech would have remained pure utopia. Now they are even battling PSG’s economic strength,” he said.

Baiocchini confirmed therefore that Sanches is one of the targets that Maldini and Massara are focusing on for the midfield, but he admitted that the player’s agent Jorge Mendes is not giving up on the possibility of his client joining PSG either.

“The truth is that Jorge Mendes continues and has never stopped talking to PSG. The possibility that Renato Sanches could go to PSG despite the club having held back a bit still exists. It is clear that if an offer arrives at Lille it will become more difficult for Milan, but to date this offer from PSG has not yet arrived. So Milan still feels on the track,” he said (via MilanNews).
