Milan will bring the curtain down on a disappointing campaign tomorrow night against Monza. The only thing that they have to play for is to try and finish eighth so that they avoid facing Bari in the Coppa Italia in the middle of August, which speaks volumes.
The first step towards the Milan of the future appears to have been taken with numerous sources claiming that Igli Tare has now signed his contract. He will become the new sporting director, with a list of tasks to get to grips with before the window even opens.
Peppe Di Stefano spoke live on Sky this afternoon to give the latest on Tare’s arrival and what might happen once a miserable 2024-25 season comes to an end, with his comments coming via MilanNews.
“Igli Tare will settle in between Milanello and Casa Milan in the next few days, between Sunday and Monday the official announcement will arrive,” he said.
“And then from Monday of next week he will live here in Milan to give a different meaning to Milan, a meaning that Milan has probably never had this year between the league and the Champions League.
“It has only had it on a few nights, like the one in Riyadh. It is not a Milan to be redone, because you have to be consistent with what we have always said: Milan are not a weak team, they are not a poor team but a team that needs to be reorganised better.
“As a possible path for Milan, there would be a young man who hasn’t had a single bad season, which is Vincenzo Italiano, from his time at Arzignano, Trapani, Spezia, Fiorentina, Bologna: he has always been a coach who has done well and has always achieved great goals.
“Italiano’s priority is Bologna, but we’ll see if it’s a negotiation that will come to fruition or not. If it goes well then Milan should look elsewhere, if it doesn’t go well Milan would be ready to open the doors of Milanello to him.”
