Tuttosport: Three-man defence not permanent – Pioli will revert to old system in time

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli will proceed with the three-man defence for the time being but it is not a permanent solution, a report claims.

Today’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) focuses on Milan and in particular on the new tactical structure which has given positive responses. While the Rossoneri are certainly more solid now having won three games in a row 1-0, there is still the feeling that the performances are not particularly convincing.

It has brought the best out of players like Malick Thiaw who until a week ago seemed to be a mysterious object but is instead proving to be an excellent purchase. Despite this, the three-man defence remains an alternative solution.

As soon as the right moment comes, Pioli will opt for a return to the old formation he used, namely the 4-2-3-1 which allowed Milan to win the Scudetto in the past season. For Pioli, the turning point is not seen strictly linked to the change of formation but from the attitude on the pitch, and he still believes in his original system.
