TMW: Elliott give green light as Milan ready offer of €20m for Lyon star Depay

AC Milan are accelerating their pursuit of Lyon star Memphis Depay, a report claims, and are hoping to capitalise on his contract situation.

According to the latest from TMW, the cancellation of the Ligue 1 season and the fact that – as it stands – Lyon will miss out on European competitions next season is a factor that could play in Milan’s favour.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has long been trying to get Depay to renew but without success so far, having set an initial asking price of €50million which has now been at least halved.

Milan have made contacts and have probed the ground with the Ligue 1 side, and CEO Ivan Gazidis is ready to make an offer of €20million plus a percentage.

Elliott Management have also given the green light for the bid and the subsequent purchase, as Milan’s owners consider the Dutchman a perfect target as he is not too old (26) but will add much needed quality to the attacking department.
