As has been reported by TMW, the Rossoneri want to bring in a young and promising defender to be a depth option and one to watch for the future.
This role has been played in recent years by Gabbia but he is expected to move to Villarreal, the deal being discussed whilst Milan have been securing the move for Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze.
Gonzalez has been playing for the B Team of Valencia and at 20 years old, there is a belief that he can take a step up.
There is a year left to run on his contract and Milan are set to meet with his agent at the start of this week to try and come to an agreement on personal terms. The move would only be a straight loan.
