Last summer, as Chelsea tried to sign the Portuguese winger, Milan just refereed to the €150m release clause. A handy clause in that sense for Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara, who are now working on the renewal.

According to Marco Conterio of TMW, the upcoming days will be decisive and the basis of the agreement should be €6.5m per season until 2028. In addition, Milan could agree to keep the €150m clause in the deal to satisfy Leao’s entourage.

In the meantime, Leao is working hard to recover from the minor injury he sustained against Lazio on Saturday. It seems he will miss the first leg against Inter but should be back for the return next week. In any case, a blow for Milan given the importance of the game.
