AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli welcomed both Fikayo Tomori and Alexis Saelemaekers back to the squad today, but they are two players with contrasting futures.

Calciomercato.com start by talking about Tomori, who had another brilliant season in 2021-22 and that caused some Premier League clubs to come forward with tempting potential salaries. Manchester United enquired but Tomori turned them down, because he wants to stay.
Milan invested €28m to sign him permanently from Chelsea and the first contacts have already been made in recent weeks to discuss the extension of his contract expiring in 2025. A big pay rise is expected as a reward for his performances since arriving in January 2021.
Meanwhile, Saelemaekers does not have as certain a future. He arrived after work from the Milan scouting area in a low-cost and therefore low-risk deal, but the management know they have a chance to get a capital gain – given he was bought from Anderlecht for about €5m – from a sale.
The aim is to sign players to raise the quality of the attack, so in addition to Charles De Ketelaere there will be talks over Hakim Ziyech as well. Junior Messias was bought outright, so if a €15-20m bid for Saelemaekers arrives he could well be sold.
