AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori expressed his happiness that the team were able to record an important three points against Fiorentina before the World Cup break.

Milan made sure that they went into the break the right way by beating Fiorentina 2-1, but the scoreline does not reveal how dramatic the three points came, with a last gasp own-goal from Nikola Milenkovic being the early Christmas present.
It took Milan less than two minutes to take the lead as Rafael Leao continued his impressive record against Fiorentina, finishing after a lay-off from Olivier Giroud, but Antonin Barak’s deflected shot made it 1-1 and it stayed that way until the late own-goal.
The game was kept level by two excellent interventions from Tomori: the first a brilliant tackle on Jonathan Ikone, and the second a goal-line clearance to again deny Ikone. Speaking to DAZN, Tomori reflected on the performance and the victory, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
“It was important to win after the draw against Cremonese. It was a difficult match, we are happy to have won before the break. Now we have to rest and then we will think about the new year,” he said.
On the block he made on the line: “It was instinct. We deserved to win, we continued to play and we are happy with the three points.”
On not getting a call-up for the World Cup: “There is obviously disappointment, the World Cup is a dream for everyone. I have to continue working to raise my level and return to the national team. I am disappointed, the only thing I can do is continue to play like today.”
On the challenge to Napoli: “We never give up. We are happy with today’s three points. The season is still long, Napoli are having an excellent season. We have to think only of us.”
