The story of AC Milan’s season – particularly in recent weeks – has once again been one of an inability to beat the so-called lessers sides in the league.

Today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes how Milan’s form against the sides around them at the top end of the table has been acceptable but they have struggled to beat the teams in the bottom half.

The perfect symbol of this was in Wednesday night’s game against Cremonese when Stefano Pioli again chose to change over half the team and they again struggled to find rhythm, having to rescue a draw late on in the end.

Examining the matches played by the Rossoneri against teams that are outside the European spots, Milan have dropped 26 points in total over the course of this season as a result of seven draws and four defeats.

Milan need to win nearly all of their last five games to reach the top four, but included in those are matches against Spezia, Sampdoria and Verona, with the other games being Lazio and Juventus. A change in gear is needed to avoid a forgettable league campaign.
