Tuttosport: Flamengo starlet emerges as an option for Milan’s midfield

A new name has appeared on AC Milan’s radar in their midfield pursuit: Joao Gomes. There isn’t much time left on the transfer window, though, and the Rossoneri must hurry, as a report claims.

Several players have been linked with Milan over the last few weeks but Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are no closer to signing a midfielder. As we are entering the final days of the mercato, a sense of urgency is starting to show itself.

According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Milan have slowed down their pursuit of Bordeaux midfielder Jean Onana. Contacts are being kept alive with the entourage of Wolfsburg youngster Aster Vranckx, who is expected to leave but also has attracted the interest of Atalanta.

The new name, as mentioned, is Joao Gomes. The 21-year-old played 45 games for Flamengo last season and impressed in his defensive midfield role. Milan will have to understand if the operation is feasible and whether it can be conducted in such a short period of time.
