In the last few months, AC Milan have been working on the renewal of Rafael Leao but little progress has ultimately been made. The winger’s agent Jorge Mendes has presented a hefty demand, a report claims.
Leao was the best player on the pitch as Milan managed to beat Inter in the Derby Della Madonnina last night. Not only did he score a brace, but also assisted what was a very important goal by Olivier Giroud in the second half.
Inevitably, the renewal talks have ended up in the spotlight again and Milan find themselves in a tricky situation. According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Mendes has made it clear that he wants a salary of €7m per year for his client.
As we know, Milan have previously been very strict with their wage policy and it remains to be seen if this will stick under the ownership of Gerry Cardinale. To lose Leao would be a huge loss for the Rossoneri, who must make a decision on the renewal (current deal will expire in 2024).
