Tuttosport: Milan have abandoned pursuit of Bologna forward – the reason

AC Milan have been strongly linked with a number of players in recent weeks and Marko Arnautovic has been one of the names mentioned most.

According to this morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan), Arnautovic had been selected by Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara as the potential replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimović, after the Swede’s recent farewell to football.

The now-former directors believed that the experience of the Austrian – who is 34 years of age – would have been a valuable resource for the attacking department.

However, the new heads of the Rossoneri’s transfer business – chief scout Geoffrey Moncada and CEO Giorgio Furlani – have taken Arnautovic’s name off the list because he is not a profile that matches with the project.

No further or new contacts between Milan and Bologna are planned regarding the negotiation for Arnautović , with Moncada and Furlani working on other players deemed more suitable.
