A number of AC Milan players disappointed in the eyes of Tuttosport during last night’s 1-0 defeat against Juventus at San Siro.
The paper (via PianetaMilan) begin their player ratings by praising Antonio Mirante who did well in his first Serie A start for 917 days (since Torino-Rome on 18 April 2021), giving him a 7 out of 10 for a Milan debut that was only spoiled by a deflected shot.
Davide Calabria saw his side targeted and he stood up well, even playing a couple of diagonals in the first half, to get a 6. His replacement Simon Kjaer didn’t play long enough to be voted.
Malick Thiaw was ‘naive’ during the red card, perhaps thinking he wasn’t the last man, but it was an error that cost Milan and so he got a 4. His centre-back partner Fikayo Tomori ‘controlled Milik very well and also blocked Vlahović’ to get a 6.
Alessandro Florenzi battled with Weah and found it tough at first but in the end he managed to limit the damage, scoring a 6. Yunus Musah ‘should have been the dynamo for Milan, but instead he never turned on’. He scored 5.
Yacine Adli was criticised for ‘lazy playmaking’ with the paper stating that ‘the best thing about his game was the dribble which forced Weah to be booked’, so he got a 5. His replacement Rade Krunic got a 4.5, after an ‘early Halloween’.
Tijjani Reijnders is ‘the key to changing Milan’s formation from 4-3-3 to 4-2-3-1 and he is careful in shielding Locatelli, but he always lacks the spark that a player of his quality should have in his DNA’, getting a 5.5.
Christian Pulisic was watched in person by Gregg Berhalter, coach of the States, but he had to come off before half-time due to the red card. Before that he struggled to get into the game, so he got a 5.
From the 43rd minute Pierre Kalulu replaced Pulisic and he hadn’t played since September 1st. He was thrown into the fray after the red card to Thiaw and ‘passed his exam’ to receive a 6.
Olivier Giroud was denied by Szczęsny in the only chance in which he stands out as a protagonist. After the red card to Thiaw, he struggled and chased before being brought off to save energy, scoring a 5.5. The ‘impalpable’ Luka Jovic replaced him, and got a 5.
Rafael Leao was ‘the only one who, right up to the end, tried to give the opponents some headaches once he’s moved to second striker’. A rating of 6 for the Portuguese.
Stefano Pioli (6) had ‘a suitcase full of alibis (the absence of four starters and the expulsion of Thiaw) but, after the derby, he also crashed against Juventus’.
