Tuttosport: Milan ready to make an effort to renew Leao but set salary limit

Rafael Leao once again showed his importance in the win over Empoli on Saturday night and the AC Milan management are once again thinking about a renewal, a report claims.

Today’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) reports that Milan are working to extend the expiry date of Leao’s current contract, which is set for 2024, but if by summer an agreement has not yet been reached between the parties, there are two solutions: a sale in 2023 or he leaves on a free the next year.

The latter would be a very difficult hypothesis for Milan given what happened with Gianluigi Donnarumma and Franck Kessie also department without a single penny of recompense.

However, Milan know the importance of Leao and for this reason they are ready to make an important economic effort. The idea is not to go beyond €7m net per season in order not to upset the internal balance of the dressing room.

Chelsea appear to have got their hands on Christopher Nkunku of RB Leipzig, but it is equally true that there will be no shortage of buyers for Leao and a possible World Cup as a protagonist could further increase his value.
