Tuttosport: Revenues and UEFA agreement – the three big challenges facing Gazidis

CEO Ivan Gazidis is ready to undergo a revolution at AC Milan, but now he faces three immediate challenges as part of his role.

That is according to Friday’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanLive), which notes that the new Milan will be one with a wide international scope. It will begin with the departure of Zvonimir Boban and will be completed at the end of the season with the subsequent farewells of Paolo Maldini, Frederic Massara and Stefano Pioli – plus the arrival of Ralf Rangnick.

Now though, the former Arsenal chief must tackle other issues. The first is to increase the club’s revenues, as at the moment Milan costs Elliott Management around €10million a month to run.

This is why in the summer there will be further cuts in personnel costs and a salary cap of around €2-2.5m per player will be imposed, though it may be lifted for a few rare exceptions deemed valid.

The next is a political issue: the goal is the Settlement Agreement with UEFA. The exclusion from the Europa League, which took place last summer, has put the club in a position to be able to operate with greater peace of mind but still not enough.

The Rossoneri are aiming for a less restrictive path than the previous one, but in order to achieve this, the trajectory must continue to be virtuous and made up of right purchases on the market.

The discussion on the Settlement Agreement, then, will take place only when Milan returns to qualify for a UEFA competition. So therefore, above all Gazidis will have to bring results in a short time, and that is the third challenge.
