Tuttosport: Chance for youngsters to impress amid Milan’s defensive injury woes

There is a chance for young players to burst into the first team at AC Milan with the recent injury issues for Pierre Kalulu and others, a report suggests.

As has been reported by  Tuttosport (via Pianeta Milan), the fact that Kalulu is expected to be out for around four months and the other injury suffered by Marco Pellegrino in the Bapoli game means that the Rossoneri are lacking central defenders.

It leaves just Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw and Simon Kjaer, with the latter often struggling for fitness in the past couple of seasons.

For that reason, a pathway into the first team may have been forcibly opened up for the likes of Jan-Carlo Simic and Davide Bartesaghi.

Bartesaghi has had one involvement with the first team in Serie A this season, whilst Simic featured and impressed in pre-season. Bartesaghi played at left-back but he can also work as a left-footed central defender.

Pioli could be left with no choice but to give the youngsters minutes.
