The Dutchman spoke to Milan TV (via Milan News) after the match as he was one of the special guests looked after by the club.

Talking about how it feels to be back at San Siro watching the team and being among the fans, Van Basten showed how much love he has for the stadium.

“It’s always nice to return to Milan and do it here in my Milan home, it’s always a pleasure to see the Rossoneri and I thank the fans for the affection I always receive every time, I have a special relationship with Milan,” Van Basten said.

Milan added a Dutch player to the squad in the summer with the arrival of Tijjani Reijnders. He signed from AZ Alkmaar and immediately became a regular starter. He has not brought the goals that Milan would have liked so far, but Van Basten clearly rates him highly.

“He’s a good midfielder, he comes from Holland and can still do well, he’s developing well in Italy,” he said.

Finally, Van Basten was asked to send a message to the fans and he said that he hopes to see Milan winning the Serie A title soon.

“I hope that Milan can do well, win the scudetto and do better than Inter,” he said.
