According to Calciomercato.com, Aster Vranckx is a concrete candidate for a starting role in Saturday night’s match at San Siro. The Belgian midfielder – who joined the Rossoneri last summer from Wolfsburg on loan with option to buy – has so far amassed only 30 minutes in Serie A divided over three appearances.

At a point in the season where games are coming thick and fast and the condition of the squad must be managed well, Stefano Pioli is looking for new tactical solutions. He feels that the team have let in too many goals in Serie A which is the direct consequence of a fragile balance due to an attacking set-up with four players not particularly suited to the defensive phase.

Rade Krunic was fielded against Red Bull Salzburg and it can certainly be described as a positive performance, while Vranckx could play the same role against Spezia tomorrow because of his work on and off the ball.

For Vranckx it is a big opportunity to show what he can bring in what would be his first start as he aims to convince Milan to spend the amount required to make his loan from Wolfsburg a permanent deal.
