CM: Castillejo’s sale could result in new playmaker arriving – the targets from Faivre to Ziyech

AC Milan are looking into the possibility of signing a new attacking midfielder in January to give Stefano Pioli an alternative to Brahim Diaz, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com report that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara made several attempts to sign a new playmaker during the summer with Jesus Corona of Porto, Romain Faivre of Brest, Hakim Ziyech of Chelsea and Aleksey Miranchuk of Atalanta all targeted, but in the end Junior Messias arrived.

The priority for January is a central defender who can replace the injured Kjaer, but something could happen in the attack too as Samu Castillejo may leave. A new signing would be needed in that case and Faivre is the first choice target.

He has 7 goals and 5 assists in the league after his collapsed summer move to Milan. Contacts with Brest are frequent, as are those with his agents, who have put Milan at the top of the list. Another name appreciated by the Rossoneri management is Ziyech, but on this front the chances are low.

The Moroccan is not Tuchel’s first choice at Chelsea but he is a concrete target for Borussia Dortmund, who can fund the move with the money from Haaland’s sale.
