Athletic: Milan explored signing of €65m Spurs midfielder but were put off for one reason

AC Milan explored the possibility of signing Tanguy Ndombele from Spurs but decided not to go any further, according to a report.

The Athletic have offered some insight on the situation surrounding Ndombele, who signed for Spurs in a big money £55m (€65m) deal from Lyon on big wages and on a six-year deal, but things just have not really worked out for the Frenchman who is yet to find favour under any head coach.

Ndombele still has three years left on his contract and finding a buyer has ‘proved impossible’ in both of the previous summer windows since he arrived, while the report adds that the London club are also finding it hard to offload him in the current market too.

The Athletic mention that Milan ‘looked at the midfielder’ but were ultimately ‘put off by his wages’ while Marseille are still among the clubs who are keen even if there is nothing advanced yet.
