GdS: “You can always count on me” – how Ibrahimovic’s third spell at Milan began

By Oliver Fisher -

Yesterday was a special day for Zlatan Ibrahimovic as he reported to Milanello for the first time since being officially appointed as a Senior Advisor for RedBird Capital and AC Milan.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) this morning, Ibrahimovic spent over five hours with the team, and he began with a short speech to the Rossoneri players in the dressing room shortly before training.

About 15 minutes of discussion, which can be summarised as follows: “You can always count on me.” That is the concept that he wanted to convey to the group, while Zlatan spoke about his new role and assured that he will always be available to the Milan players.

Whoever needs him will find him, a bit like what happened until a few months ago when the Swede was still part of the team group as a player prior to his retirement at the end of last season following the win over Hellas Verona at San Siro.

Ibrahimovic will not always be present at Milanello, but he will be there whenever events require it. He will instead be at San Siro for the home games and has ensured that he will often follow Milan even in away games

That starts tomorrow, because he will in fact be in Salerno for the match against Salernitana, who are coached by his former team-mate Pippo Inzaghi. He will not depart this afternoon with the team, but is expected there tomorrow.

Zlatan’s third adventure with the Rossoneri has officially begun and the atmosphere at Milanello is already different.
