GdS: Pioli set to experiment in tomorrow’s Real Madrid friendly – his ideas

By Nikita Fesyukov -

AC Milan will face Real Madrid in a friendly match tomorrow at the Wörthersee Stadion in Klagenfurt, Austria, and coach Stefano Pioli is looking to try out some experiments on the field.

First of all, however, it must be noted that the Rossoneri manager still cannot count on the full squad at his disposal, especially in the midfield, seeing as Ismael Bennacer is still out with Covid-19 and Franck Kessie will only return to Milanello next week after featuring at the Olympics.

As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milanlive.it), the coach seems likely to use the 4-4-2 formation in tomorrow’s friendly, with Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud playing up front together.

Pioli is looking to enhance the qualities of Leao playing him as a second striker, seeing as he has often struggled as the only central forward in the lineup.

The report also notes that it would certainly be interesting to see Zlatan Ibrahimovic playing alongside Giroud as well.

However, the Swedish attacker is not yet available. He is expected to return to training on the pitch early next weeks
