Inzaghi gives credit to Milan and Juventus amid Inter’s ‘incredible’ campaign

By Oliver Fisher -

Inter boss Simone Inzaghi has admitted that his side are having an ‘incredible’ season, but praised rivals Juventus and AC Milan for keeping up the pressure on them.

The Derby d’Italia between Inter and Juve at San Siro last night was billed by many as a ‘Scudetto showdown’ given that the two clubs are above all the ones fighting for the league title.

In the end an Federico Gatti own-goal was the difference between the sides as the Nerazzurri went four points clear of the Bianconeri with a game in hand.

They also claim head-to-head rights over Max Allegri’s men after the 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture, and that game in hand they have is against Atalanta on February 28.

Inzaghi spoke in the press conference after last night’s game at San Siro about where the result leaves the Serie A title race, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“It can be said that tonight’s victory is an important one in our campaign. We are having an incredible campaign and despite this we are four points above Juve and eight above Milan,” he said.

“In other leagues with this number of victories the advantage was at least ten points. That’s not the case and we have to look at our path, with pitfalls but we’re confident.”
