MN: Milan-Inter now expected to be played on a Monday night – the details

By Ben Dixon -

For AC Milan fans, two fixtures are looked out for instantly when the fixtures are released yearly – those being the derbies. However, there is a chance that the second Derby della Madonnina could be moved in the Rossoneri’s favour.

Milan’s fixture list is gruelling, and their European progression has not helped the situation. After their victory against Slavia Praha, the Rossoneri were drawn against fellow Serie A side AS Roma in the Quarter-Final of the competition, and these fixtures are scheduled for the 11th and 18th of April.

However, just three days later, the Diavolo are scheduled to play the Nerazzurri in a tie that could end with Inter being awarded the Scudetto. As a result, there is a possibility that the fixture could be moved to allow the Rossoneri a longer resting period.

MilanNews have reported that the derby could be played on Monday (April 22) instead of being one of the weekend fixtures, granting the Rossoneri an extra day of preparation for the clash. With the Diavolo currently scheduled to have five games in a fortnight, it would be a welcomed decision if the game is moved to Monday night.

Lega Serie A are expected to make an announcement tomorrow (March 20).

  1. I don’t know that a day makes a difference. Pioli fundamentally does not have what it takes to outfox Inzaghi and his deep roster.
