MN: ‘Milan do not need Inter’ – the truth about stadium plans amid confusing reports

By Euan Burns -

There is a messy situation brewing in Milan between Inter, AC Milan and the municipality that has to be dealt with very carefully, and lots of different information has been swirling around.

As reported by Milan News, one of the main things to consider is that Milan are not in a position where they need Inter to create their own stadium and play there.

There have been suggestions that the Rossoneri are unable to finance a new stadium without sharing it with Inter, but that is supposedly not the case.

Milan have been holding conversations with high-level banks to understand the financial side of getting their San Donato stadium project off of the ground, whilst Inter are the team who have a lot less financial security thanks to the Oaktree Capital group loan which may soon get extended, rather than repaid. It should be said that Gerry Cardinale’s ownership is not entirely secure either.

Something that Milan do have to consider is that they cannot break all ties and good relations with Inter and Milan mayor Beppe Sala, just in case something happens which puts an end to the San Donato project and Milan need to remain at San Siro for longer than planned.

Milan appear the stronger of the two clubs when it comes to a new stadium, but there is still a lot of work to do.
