MN: Milan turn to Real Madrid again in pursuit of new centre-back – the name scouted

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are looking to sign a new central defender ahead of next season and they have on-loan Real Madrid man Rafa Marin in their sights a report claims.

With Simon Kjaer set to depart at the end of the season once his contract expires and with doubts surrounding Malick Thiaw and Pierre Kalulu following their injury troubles, signing a centre-back has become on of the priorities for the management.

According to what is being reported by MilanNews, technical director Geoffrey Moncada and sporting director Antonio D’Ottavio have scouted various profiles over the past few months and one of those who has been put under the magnifying glass plays in LaLiga.

This is Rafa Marin of Deportivo Alaves, who this season has made 30 appearances with 2217 minutes played, with 25 of those games being starts. Born in 2002, Marin is on loan to the Basque team from Real Madrid.

Having come through the youth system of Los Blancos, Marín made his debut for RM Castilla on 2 May 2021, coming on as a substitute in the 3–1 win against Badajoz.

He was subsequently called up to the senior squad for the first time on 22 December 2021, appearing on the bench in a 2–1 win against Athletic Bilbao in the Primera Division. On 28 July 2023 he was sent to Alavés on a season-long loan until 30 June 2024.

      1. I think you should speak more diligently of a new manager.
One Italian young, experienced and diligent of managers.
        De Zerbi or Motta
ACM management should get their act together or run the risk of being the laughing joke of world football and huge
        failure.
The shame of failure should speedily avoided by ACM management in the eyes of world football

      1. The funny thing is, if they were doing “moneyball” they’d precisely play Simic, because he cost next to nothing and if he keeps on developing he could be sold for “big profit”. So you’re statement makes no sense, but I guess haters are going to hate.

    1. Simis will play with the U23’s before he gets a chance with the senior team likely. Same with the likes of Zeroli, Bartesaghi, Jimenez, etc.

  1. Italians cost too much…. Buongiorno really worth 40+mil for example? Scalvini could make sense but only with the CKD discount.

    1. Scalvini costs 50M. If Buongiorno isn’t worth 40M, then Scalvini isn’t worth 50. To your point. But “moneyball” and “Americans”.
