Moretto: Milan heavily leaning one way regarding Jovic contract decision

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan must make a decision on a number of different players whose contracts are expiring at the end of the season, and summer signing Luka Jovic is among them.

Jovic arrived on the final day of the summer mercato from Fiorentina but it was well documented that he was not Milan’s first choice to reinforce the attack.

Other names had been sought from Mehdi Taremi of Porto to Patson Daka of Leicester, but they were unable to get those deals over the line for various reasons.

According to what is being reported by Relevo, the Milan management are happy with the performances of Jovic who has amassed five goals and one assist in his 16 appearances so far this season.

They state that the former Real Madrid man is actually ‘very close’ to staying with the Rossoneri. In the summer, Milan signed him on a free transfer from Fiorentina on a one-year deal, with the possibility of extending his contract for three more years.

At present, Milan seem willing to exercise that option as they are satisfied with how the forward is developing after initial difficulties. The decision will come later, but everything points towards Jovic being a Milan player in 2024-25.

  1. With 6 goals currently, i think Jovic deserves a renewal.

And bringing new striker only repeat another “they’re adapting, we need to wait” cycle again.

  2. Still don’t get why people are so high on David. We need a target man type, because Giroud is on the verge of being put out to pasture.
