Tuttosport: Inter’s veterans outperform Milan’s with two decisive strikes

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan were beaten by Inter 2-0 in the Champions League semi-final first leg last night and the two goals came from two of the oldest on the field.

As Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) reports, the Nerazzurri scored two lightning goals at the start of the game through Edin Dzeko and then Henrikh Mkhitaryan, showing that two over-30s can be decisive in the biggest and most intense games.

Dzeko is 37 while Mkhitaryan is 34, but the striker plays with the desire of a kid who wants to prove himself and help to team all over the pitch, and the midfield can still command the central area despite his advanced age.

Dzeko netted his fourth goal of this edition of the Champions League, while for the Armenian it proved to be a great choice by Simone Inzaghi to start Brozovic on the bench in favour of a more dynamic and mobile midfield trio.

On the opposite side, Milan’s two veterans Olivier Giroud and Simon Kjaer battled away all night but struggled.
