Porto striker Mehdi Taremi has become AC Milan’s primary target when it comes to a new striker and a €20 million deal is possible, a report claims.
As has been reported by Tuttosport (via Milan News), the Rossoneri are more serious about signing Taremi than any of their other many attacking targets.
The likes of Alvaro Morata, Hugo Ekitike and many more have been in the frame in recent weeks, but Taremi is the club’s ideal target for a number of reasons.
He is experienced, has a similar profile to Olivier Giroud and will not require a huge financial outlay. The club hopes that €20m may be enough, although Porto often drive a hard bargain.
Milan have initiated contact with the club and there is a desire to get the deal finalised as soon as possible. Stefano Pioli will be able to get more out of pre-season if he has two main strikers to work with.

I’m not saying taremi would be a top scorer right away but at least he has experience which milan need in a striker.
Milan need a striker that can be their starter right away since giroud isn’t getting any younger.
I think signing taremi is a statement from milan that they don’t want to be held hostage by villareal or at least make villareal to reconsider selling chukuweze to milan now rather than losing him for free next season
Retegui, Eketike and boulaye Dia all are younger, price wise pretty close and all would be given a similar contribution attack wise
Dan rose all of them are risky they are one season wonders accept Dia, I prefer Jonathan David if we can’t afford him then the best option is taremi he can play 4 years to come

I think this is an excellent option. Taremi should be seen as a replacement to Zlatan, Origi and Rebic who are the ones who have been backup to Giroud and to me that is a huge upgrade.
I know that most would like to have a younger option, but Taremi is still only 31 and has 4-5 good years ahead of him. Just look at players like Zlatan, Giroud, Dzeko who has all been productive during their 30’s.
Furthermore, if the club wants to buy a younger player, it will cost much more. Balogun and Jonathan David are both +€40m. Also I don’t think they match the profile that Milan are after. A big, physical player who can keep hold of the ball.
The young players who are within Milan’s price range, don’t have the necessary quality.
Then next year, the club can look for a young, more expensive striker. Especially when Giroud is going to retire at some point and Taremi can take over from him.
