There is some surprise that Yacine Adli is yet to make his official debut for AC Milan after an excellent preseason, but his time will arrive.
MilanNews recall how Adli arrived at Milan following the conclusion of his loan spell at Bordeaux, joining up with the squad for the first day of the preseason training camp ahead of the friendlies that came in July and August.
The Frenchman was one of the positive notes of the friendly games as he looked a very dynamic, fluid and confident player in the number 10 role, but he did not even get a minute of action against against Udinese or Atalanta.
However, Adli is simply studying how best to play his role in a different league and environment than the one he has always been used to in France. Having arrived as more of a box-to-box player, Pioli will ask him to play as an attacking midfielder, on the wing or even in the double pivot.
Such flexibility means it will take time to assimilate all these concepts and to find the right cohesion both with the instructions themselves and with his team-mates. In addition, Milan currently have Brahim Diaz and Charles De Ketelaere in this role, meaning Pioli can call upon Adli without pressure and when the time is right.
The report adds how Adli’s acclimatisation on a human level is going very smoothly. He has already shown his increasing understanding of Italian and based on social media he seems to have formed friendships within the squad.
Yesterday, Adli was the protagonist of a Meet & Greet with some fans with whom he took several photos and signed shirts. After the event, Adli published a photo of the event on his Instagram story and wrote ‘Family’ accompanied by a red and a black heart, showing he already feels right at home.
