Massimo Ambrosini has once again offered his thoughts on the discussion surrounding Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic.

The headlines surrounding Milan have been dominated for the last few days by the incident involving Leao during Milan’s defeat against Lazio on Sunday. After Leao didn’t get a pass from the American, he was substituted and his reaction said it all about how he felt.
He shoved Massimiliano Allegri’s hug attempts away and even Mike Maignan’s attempts to calm the forward down didn’t work. Things have since been resolved with an apology to the team and a handshake with Pulisic, but that hasn’t stopped the stories.
Ambrosini appeared on the show Elastici which aired on the Cronache di Spogliatoio YouTube channel. He gave his thoughts on Leao’s current situation and the decision to take him off.
“A player with Leao in front of him now worries much less than before. Leao is less of a threat to opponents. Pulisic was almost playing worse than him: those two balls he didn’t give him are a sign of a lack of clarity, because you have to give him that ball,” he said (via MilanPress).
“Between the two of them, Pulisic should have come off, not Leao, every time. If I’m a right-back and you give him the ball, I should be worried. He’s trying, and he’s put in a little more during the season, but you can’t judge him based on one pass.
“It’s good if he makes one, but the judgement should be based on his ability to free himself from the opponent and take on his man.”
