Athletic: Milan withdraw from Super League following exit of England’s big six

The European Super League didn’t last for long, upsetting football fans all over the world and above all putting pressure on the club owners. In a matter of hours, the competition was picked apart.

Although the situation is unfortunate, as the project should never have been started in this way, it was indeed entertaining to follow the news last night. As England’s ‘big six’ decided to drop out, it all fell apart.

Therefore, it was only a matter of time before we would hear anything from Milan. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, the Rossoneri have decided to withdraw from the competition and the other Italian sides are likely to follow.

It will give the fans some comfort ahead of Milan’s game with Sassuolo this evening, and surely the players as well. The game is scheduled for 18:30 CEST and Stefano Pioli’s side will be looking for yet another win at San Siro.
