COPE: Barcelona and Mendes discuss Leao but Milan have counter-move ready

Barcelona are big admirers of Rafael Leao but they seem to have been put off by AC Milan’s determined stance on keeping him, it is claimed.

According to COPE in Spain, on Wednesday the president of Barcelona – Joan Laporta – and the agent Jorge Mendes met to discuss players ahead of the summer. Three Portuguese players in particular were the subject of talks, as Barca insisted that they will find solutions to their financial problems and they will be able to sign top players.

One of the players that was mentioned was Rafael Leao of Milan, who scored 14 goals and added 11 assists last season in all competitions, helping guide the Rossoneri to the league title after an 11-year wait, as the Serie A MVP too.

Barca president Joan Laporta has admired the 23-year-old for a long time but Milan would ask for a large amount of money in order to sell. Not only that, but the management want to extend Leao’s deal with a big pay rise to protect him.
