Bennacer left out of Algeria’s game against Burkina Faso – Milan await updates

AC Milan are anxiously awaiting updates regarding the condition of Ismael Bennacer as he will not take any part in Algeria’s game against Burkina Faso today.

Ennahar TV reported that Bennacer underwent an examination after he felt pain felt in his adductor during training yesterday. He went to Bouaké hospital for an MRI which ruled out any strain or tear, boosting the hopes he could play today.

It was suggested that Algeria choose to take a cautious route and not start the former Empoli man against Burkina Faso but drew their opening game in the competition 1-1 against Angola so they really need to get a win on the board.

However, it was confirmed when the starting line-ups were announced an hour before the game that Bennacer is not even on the bench, meaning he did not recover to make the match day squad.

Evidently the Algerian medical staff, in agreement with the coach, preferred not to take risks but the Milan staff will in turn wait for updates regarding midfielder.

Considering that Bennacer has just returned from a very long spell on the sidelines following surgery on his knee, there were doubts about whether he would even be part of the tournament.
