Bild: Milan serious about young Bayern Munich midfielder and launch enquiry

AC Milan’s interest in signing Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch has been confirmed by a source in Germany this morning.

According to the newspaper edition of Bild (via Goal), the Milan management are pushing to try and sign Gravenberch, who got very little playing time with Bayern Munich last season.

With Sandro Tonali’s transfer to Newcastle United imminent, Milan would have the funds to rebuild the midfield with a profile like the Dutchman. The arrival of Ruben Loftus-Cheek is not enough for Pioli, who wants more dynamism.

Yunus Musah of Valencia and Tijjani Reijnders of AZ Alkmaar continue to be linked, but Gravenberch is an interesting opportunity to the management as the 21-year-old expressed his dissatisfaction regarding his role within the squad.

His €18.5m arrival from Ajax last summer looked like a real steal, but Julian Nagelsmann and Thomas Tuchel have not used him much. Milan meanwhile could offer him a leading role and the chance to remain a Champions League player.

The negotiation has not yet started and it is just enquiries at this stage, but the idea is very much functional to the youth project that Geoffrey Moncada would like to carry out this summer.
