Brahim Diaz insists he has the ‘personality’ to wear the No.10 and is back at his ‘best condition’

Brahim Diaz has insisted that he has what it takes to overcome a recent tough patch of form and prove that he deserves the shirt number he wears at AC Milan.

The Spaniard joined Milan in the summer of 2020 on an initial one-year loan deal from Real Madrid and became a real key contributor towards the business end of the season, scoring important goals such as the one to take the lead in the decisive 3-0 victory over Juventus.

His end to the season meant Milan wanted him back and they secured his return on a two-year loan from Los Blancos, though this time there is an option to buy in favour of the Rossoneri and a buy-back in favour of the LaLiga giants, as per multiple reports.

Brahim gave an interview to SportMediaset in which he talked about the Rossoneri’s current moment leading up to the derby on Saturday 5 February after the international break, and his own particular patch of form.

“Now I can go back to my best condition to help my team-mates with goals, with assists and above all with work for the team. I like to have leadership and responsibility. Already playing for Milan is a pride for the club’s history,” he said (via MilanNews).

As part of his return to Milan he took the number 10 shirt previously occupied by Hakan Calhanoglu, and he claims that he is not feeling the weight of the number.

“It increases the responsibilities and brings great pressure, but I have the personality to wear it. I want to do great things with this shirt and with this team.”

Finally, the 22-year-old also spoke about his targets for the season and the objectives for the team too.

“There are still many matches, there is a long way to go, we want to win the derby against Inter and we will do our best to do so. There are many teams in the running for the Scudetto, and we are one of them. We will try to fight until the end of the season.”
