Official: Cagliari vs. AC Milan starting XIs – two changes from win over Empoli

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has made two changes to his starting line-up for the game against Cagliari compared to the team that beat Empoli.

Pioli has gone with Mike Maignan in goal protected by a back four from right to left consisting of Davide Calabria, Pierre Kalulu, Fikayo Tomori and Theo Hernandez, meaning captain Alessio Romagnoli would start from the bench.

A double pivot of Ismael Bennacer and Franck Kessie has been chosen allowing Sandro Tonali to get some rest after he had a fever in midweek, though he can come off the bench, and that gives Brahim Diaz the chance to start as the playmaker.

Junior Messias has got the nod on the right wing over Alexis Saelemaekers, with Rafael Leao on the left wing and Olivier Giroud starting over Zlatan Ibrahimovic despite also battling a fever earlier in the week.

Official Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Tomori, Kalulu, Theo Hernandez; Bennacer, Kessie; Messias, Diaz, Leao; Giroud.

Bench: Mirante, Tătăruşanu; Ballo-Touré, Florenzi, Gabbia, Romagnoli; Bakayoko, Krunić, Saelemaekers, Tonali; Ibrahimović, Rebić.
