Calabria enjoys ‘important’ three points and praises Camarda’s talent after historic debut

AC Milan captain Davide Calabria has stressed the importance of simply getting three points on the board, and also discussed the talent of the young Francesco Camarda who made his historic debut.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia after the game against Fiorentina on Saturday night (via Milan News), Calabria suggested that the three points were much more important than the quality of the performance, as Milan have been in poor form.

“The result was important, the performance takes second place. The three points were important, for the fans and for us. We suffered in the end, but we won,” Calabria said.

Making the same point to DAZN (via Milan News), Calabria said: “There’s always a lot of talk about Milan, it’s part of the game. For us the three points mattered. It had been a while since we won, maybe the performance was there but in the second half it dropped a bit. Today it was important, even if we suffered, to come back and win for the fans. We deserve it.”

There was history made at San Siro in the 1-0 victory as the 15-year-old Francesco Camarda came on for his debut. He became the youngest player to ever appear in Serie A and he was given the last six minutes of the 90 by Stefano Pioli.

Calabria was keen to talk about the talent of the 2008-born striker: “He has talent, he has to enjoy himself but know that he has to work harder than the others to get to the top. He’s a boy with a head on his shoulders, but we’ll follow him along the way.”

Talking about Milan’s poor form of late, Calabria said: “If you don’t win you’re not happy, but it wasn’t a feeling of discouragement. We had to bring home the win.”
