Caldara opens up about injury struggles at Milan: “One after another”

Mattia Caldara joined AC Milan in the summer of 2018 but just like Gonzalo Higuain, who went with him from Juventus, the adventure never took off. The defender has now opened up about his injury struggles.

The defender is currently on loan at Venezia and the latter have the option to sign him permanently for €4m. The start to the season has been positive for him and Milan are happy with that, knowing he could get signed.

Speaking to Gazzetta Dello Sport, as cited by MilanNews, Caldara opened up about his major injury struggles at Milan. He only made two appearances for the club and that wasn’t easy on him mentally.

“I had man injuries one after another, and serious ones. It always took me a few months to get back and every time I felt close to feeling good there was another heavier blow. I went through this mentally, I don’t deny it. It wasn’t easy at all, but inside me, there was always the hope that once I had reached a certain psycho-physical balance, I would return to Atalanta,” he stated.

As said, Milan are hoping that he will be redeemed by Venezia at the end of the season. They will make a loss on paper but at least they will get his salary off the wage bill, which is always a plus.
