Earlier today, it was reported that Massimo Calvelli and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were going to lead the searches for the new hires at Milan, with Giorgio Furlani, Igli Tare, Geoffrey Moncada and Massimiliano Allegri set to leave.

However, it appears that they – and whoever comes in – may not have the biggest say of them all.

Cardinale takes the lead

Indeed, MilanVibes confirms that Ibrahimovic and Calvelli will lead the searches for the aforementioned roles. Yet, the search for a new head coach or manager will be led by Gerry Cardinale, the owner of the club.

In the report, it is suggested that he has taken on the role of the CEO for now and will look to hire a new number one, as is relayed from Cronache di Spogliatoio. He personally wants to get this decision right and his first choice would be Antonio Conte.

The Italian is leaving Napoli this summer and he would be seen as a ‘definitive’ option to lead the Diavolo forward, due to his ‘responsibility and capable of instilling charisma, order, and internal organization in his teams’.

Whether it will allow the club to take the next step forward will be seen.
