This is where AC Milan could profit from a Europe-less season, and whilst the schedule is difficult, it is not impossible to navigate.
When this season began, the frustration of not being in Europe was certainly tangible. However, with the Scudetto being possible, this is where it could actually be a boost to Milan.

Hard, but not the hardest
Over the next few weeks, the Rossoneri will be tested massively, as they have five games in 18 days. A ridiculous way for the fixtures to fall, but Massimiliano Allegri will not complain. Instead, he will pick up his socks, as Gazzetta dello Sport write.
It’s Genoa on Thursday, and then Fiorentina on Sunday evening. On the 15th, Como await, whilst Lecce and then Roma follow. Three away from San Siro and two at home, if it were flipped, maybe it’d be slightly nicer. There is too little time to complain, though.
Saying that, though, the schedule actually looks favourable for Milan, thanks to European competitions. Inter face Napoli in the same timeframe, and then both have difficult fixtures in the Champions League, which will demand perfect rotation.
Juventus and Roma could also struggle thanks to their European and cup commitments. In other words, whilst it is difficult for the Rossoneri, it may be more difficult for everyone else.
Difficult for the Rossoneri? If this opportunity was well planned out, Allegri could have rotated the team against Genoa and Lecce, to have an immense advantage over the other top clubs. Spend 30M on a good defender now and capitalize to secure European football. A big investment sure, but profitable in the long rung. Instead, Allegri has a squad that is toothless without Modric, Rabiot and either Pulisic or Leao. Seems to me that this management only spends after disaster (finishing eighth) instead of spending to anticipate. This will only lead to failure in the long run.

We need another CB, particularly a Serie A veteran. This last game was evidence of what happens if we have a couple of injuries, with Bartesaghi playing ad a makeshift CB, as Allegri clearly doesn’t think Odogu is ready. This also meant the shakey Estupinan at LB. We were able to get away with it against Cagliari, just barely, but what happens against the likes of Intet, Napoli, Roma, Juventus, Atalanta, etc? Solet or Kristensen from Udinese would be good targets.
Invest in Scalvini now by giving Atalanta Musah. Sell Fofana in the summer and invest in Ederson.
