Reports: Chelsea planning mass summer clear-out – midfielder offered to Milan

Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic is expected to be part of a clear-out that occurs this summer which could boost AC Milan’s hopes of getting him.

According to a report from The Athletic, Chelsea are planning to reduce the size of the squad available to Graham Potter given that there are currently over 30 players in the senior ranks and they have spent over £500million on signings in the past two windows.

The primary candidates for the possible departure list are those who have just one year left on their contracts which therefore means Mason Mount, Cesar Azpilicueta, Christian Pulisic, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Kovacic.

In a follow-up article which references The Athletic’s story, talkSPORT report that Kovacic has offered his services to Milan ahead of the summer.

It comes after PianetaMilan reported that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara had a very interesting market meeting at the hotel they were staying at during last Wednesday’s game against Spurs in the Champions League as they met Kovacic’s agent who pitched the idea of him moving back to Milano, this time with the red half of the city.
