CM: City of Milan approves San Siro demolition as new stadium rumours gather pace

Both Milan and Inter are leaning towards abandoning San Siro in favour of a new stadium, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com provide an update on speculation last week that suggested the Milano rivals are set to build a new stadium together

They suggest that a project ‘has been underway for some time’, and that the go-ahead for the demolition of the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza has already been granted by the City of Milan council.

The report states that Ivan Gazidis has been a driving force behind the new project, and that both clubs are looking towards American business bank Goldman Sachs to help fund the stadium.

Both Milan and Inter have asked for a study on the construction of a new stadium in the current parking lot surrounding San Siro.

The recent trip to the USA by Gazidis and Antonelli together is perhaps the biggest indication that both clubs are looking towards a future in a new stadium.
