It seems as though the likelihood of AC Milan signing Matteo Lovato from Hellas Verona in January have dropped for a couple of reasons.
According to Calciomercato.it, Milan remain on the hunt for a centre-back to shore up the defence in January and a few different profiles are being considered. The remit is that it must be a young player but one who is already proven and can provide an instant boost.

However, despite the intense links in recent weeks the chances of Lovato’s arrival at Milan has dropped. Paolo Maldini has learned that the asking price is €20m, and his performance yesterday against Sampdoria was insufficient and the feeling is that Juric wants to work on him for a few more months, in order to allow him to gain experience.
Here are his words yesterday at the press conference: “Lovato has played three or four games as a starter and he cannot be asked to be a phenomenon. In my opinion he needs many years to improve with humility.”
Paolo Maldini may opt instead for a profile that already has international experience, therefore Ozan Kabak and Mohamed Simakan are ahead at the moment.
