Paolo Maldini’s time as AC Milan’s technical director could be set to end after just 12 months, according to a report.

Maldini was appointed in the role just one year ago by owners Elliott Management after having initially held more of consultancy position.
As Calciomercato.com reporter Daniele Longo notes though, it is a marriage that could end soon. Maldini has been angered by the choice of the ownership to contact Ralf Rangnick without consulting with him and his right-hand man Zvonomir Boban.
The differences with CEO Ivan Gazidis and his collaborators are manifesting themselves at present and risk leading to an irremediable fracture.
Maldini would like to focus on elements ready to accelerate the reconstruction process, which is directly against the youth-oriented policy that the former Arsenal chief wishes to deploy.
Maldini has already given an interview during which he claimed Rangnick is not the right fit for Milan and insisted that the club are happy with the work that head coach Stefano Pioli is doing.
Maldini spoke to Sky Italia after the game against Fiorentina, and revealed that there are indeed ‘different visions’ at the club.
“There is only one Milan, there may be problems and different visions,” he said.
“But it is normal in a club and we all want the same thing. As for Rangnick, I have never contacted him and according to my vision he is not suitable for Milan,” he said.
