Napoli have agreed on a contract with Massimiliano Allegri to replace Antonio Conte, but with no agreement in sight between him and AC Milan, they are stuck in limbo.

Antonio Conte announced his decision to leave Napoli at the end of the season, and it was fully confirmed just a few days ago. Unlike Milan, the Partenopei have actually moved quickly to replace the 56-year-old, reaching an agreement with Allegri.
However, since Allegri is technically still under contract with Milan until 2027, that deal must be terminated before he can sign with Napoli. Seeing as the Rossoneri want to move on from him, and he wants to join the Partenopei, it was initially thought that it would be easy, but…
Negotiations at a standstill
According to the latest from Calciomercato.com, Allegri and Milan had yet another meeting to try to resolve the situation, but the green light didn’t arrive. The gaffer has demanded €2m for himself, along with €3m for his staff, but Gerry Cardinale doesn’t want to pay a penny.
The Milan owner is claiming that Allegri had reached an agreement with Napoli before the end of the 2025-26 season, which would justify not giving him a severance package. He won’t back down from that stance, even if it means paying another season’s worth of wages.
In the meantime, Napoli are waiting for their new coach and will give it another 7-10 days before sounding the alarm, potentially looking for other managers.
